The Beginning
Robbie Kohli is the brain and heart behind our global technology firm. Passionate about technology from a young age, Robbie always dreamed of starting on his own and disrupting the world of technology.
Born to Kuljeet Kaur Kohli and Hitrinder Singh Kohli on 12th November 1983, Robbie’s first interaction with computers and the internet happened during his schooldays. His fascination and inquisitive mindset made him found a school-level computer club – WARP in 1996. He got so immersed in the world of technology that he ended up hosting an interschool symposium under his club for 20 schools.
Clearly, planning and leadership capabilities were embedded in his personality early-on in his life. As he passed through his academic journey, several experiences shaped up his worldview and personality all of which prompted him to start working early-on in life.

First Taste of Success
After completing his education, he went on to work with GE Capital as a Process Associate for Credit Card Payment process. He believes working at GE gave him global exposure even while he was not directly working in the technology sector.
He learned communication skills, solving customer queries, understood the importance of customer delight and got his first experience of learning about the USA, its people and the culture. All this helped him groom his personality, which further made him equipped to lead a global technology firm.
Despite working full-time at GE, he never stopped learning. He regularly participated in learning and volunteer programs offered by GE where he showcased his technological finesse and expertise to develop several solutions including a credit card payment tracking software that helped the company, enormously.
His successes in the technology sphere fuelled by the ambition to create a dent in the universe nurtured him further towards his goals. But there was yet another pitstop before he made it big in the technology world.

After completing his education,
he went on to work with GE
Capital

The Entrepreneurial Journey
After resigning from his job at GE, he started focusing on his family business- Kohli International, started by his father. His father’s firm is a leading exporter of fashion jewelry and accessories and it was here that Robbie got attached to the financial aspects of conducting business. Seeing his father toiling day in and out- negotiating with customers, using technology to communicate with potential buyers, invoicing using computers, shaped up his mind towards entrepreneurship.
He fondly remembers how he used to fiddle with the first computer brought by his father for his office in 1994. He used to help him organize jewelry photographs, creating PDF catalogs and mailing them overseas. Working closely with his father gave him the first-hand experience and the necessary expertise for managing a large-scale business.
As he had been seeing his father conducting business operations since childhood, he observed how technology had transformed their own business processes. Earlier the quotation and sampling process which took days now happened within minutes because of computer, internet and email.
The fast-changing technology landscape helped their business tremendously. And as Robbie was a central cog in the transformation process, he thought of leveraging his experience in helping other businesses. He knew that technology would play a pivotal role in the future and started planning his entrepreneurial journey.
Meanwhile, their family firm was growing at a rapid pace. Incidentally, the business started catering to large and renowned jewelry chain stores globally including JC Penny- the firm whose credit process Robby handled while working at GE. From an employee to a business associate, his growth journey further fuelled his ambition to start providing technology solutions and turning into long-term business partners for global firms.

But as all good things have a validity period, his honeymoon period with his family firm also ended with the recession of 2008. Their revenues plummeted and he started contemplating his professional choices. At this time, he thought of going back to the technology domain and began working as a freelancer on a part-time basis.
His skills, sharp business acumen and experience of dealing with global businesses helped his freelancing endeavors. Soon, he was able to complete more than 50 website development projects and got the taste of technological success.
He kept on working as a freelancer for a while and finally incorporated Deep Focus with a vision to provide end-to-end web development and design services along with other essential digital marketing solutions to global businesses.
The Road Bump
But as all good things have
a validity period,

In his initial years as a CEO, he worked closely with his team, clients and other stakeholders to create fiduciary relationships, which resulted in successful completion of 800+ projects over the years.
His skills, expertise and deep passion enabled him to garner the interest of global technology firms. Soon enough, Deep Focus became the official accredited partner for Mailchimp in India with a place on Mailchimp expert panel. Only eight companies in India have this prestigious accreditation.

Family
On other note, when he is not busy with technology (which is an impossible if his wife is to be believed), he loves spending time with his 3-year old daughter and his wife. His wife jokingly states that Robbie is not less than a humanoid prototype because of his deep affiliation to technology.
He loves traveling to exotic locations, enjoys playing chess and make the most out of his life by doing something he loves every day. It would not be wrong to say that Robbie is the living embodiment of the phrase ‘If you do something you love, you never work a day in your life’.
